HermitFile Pro

Everything this site remembers

All of it is held by your own browser, on this device, and this page is the whole of it. There is no account here, so there is nothing of yours on a server.

This is not an account

There is nothing to sign in to. Your saved settings, chains, licence key and one preference live in this browser, on this device. That is the entire list.

Readable below, exportable, erasable in one click. Nobody can take it from you and nobody can get it back for you — clear your site data and it is gone, so export first if that matters.

Saved settings

Named sets of options you saved on a tool page. Pro keeps these; the tools themselves are free either way.

Chains

Several tools in order — resize, then clean, then make a PDF — saved under one name. Start it and the rest queue up behind the first.

Preferences

Tools open with the two or three controls most people need. Tick this to see all of them straight away.

The Pro prompt

After three finished jobs this site shows one prompt about Pro, and at most twice ever. The count below is the whole of what it knows. It is stored on this device and is never sent anywhere.

Take it with you, or destroy it

The export is a plain JSON file you can read in any text editor — there is nothing in it you cannot see on this page. It is written by your browser straight to your downloads folder; it is not uploaded, because there is nowhere for it to go.

Why there is no login

An account is a promise that we will hold something of yours. Every account is also a database that can be breached, subpoenaed, sold in an acquisition, or quietly repurposed when the business needs to grow. The only version of that promise we are willing to make is the one where we hold nothing.

The cost is real and worth stating: settings do not follow you between devices, and if you lose this browser you lose them. We think a site whose whole claim is that your files never leave your machine cannot then ask you to hand over an email address to keep a list of preferences.

What a licence actually is here

A short signed string, emailed to you after payment. Your browser verifies the signature against a public key that ships with the site, and that check happens offline — there is no call home, so we do not learn when or where you used it. The key contains a plan name and an expiry date and nothing else: no email address, no customer number, nothing that identifies you.

Which also means it can be copied. We know. Enforcing otherwise would need an account and a server call, which is the thing this site exists to avoid. The full reasoning is on the Pro page.
