Common questions

I just paid. Do I have to do anything?

No. Stripe sends you straight back to the welcome page and Pro switches itself on there, in the browser you bought it in. The key is still emailed to you as well — keep it, because that is how you turn Pro on anywhere else.

If it does not come on by itself, the box above and the one on /welcome both take the key from that email. Nothing is lost either way: the subscription is live from the moment you paid.

I lost the email with my key.

If the key is still saved in a browser you have used, this page shows it above. Otherwise reply to your Stripe receipt and we will send it again.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Yes. Paste the same key on your phone and your laptop. There is nothing counting devices, because there is nothing to count them with.

What happens when my subscription renews?

A new key is emailed with a later date. Paste it in the same box; it replaces the old one.

What happens if I cancel?

The tools keep working exactly as they are until the date on your key, then Pro features stop and every tool goes back to running one file at a time. Nothing you have already made is affected, and every tool stays free to use, one file at a time, at any file size, forever.

How we handle the billing part

The most common complaint about every site in this category is not the software — it is the bill. Charges nobody expected, refunds refused, cancellation buried. In June 2024 the FTC referred Adobe to the Department of Justice over an early termination fee shown in small print and a cancellation flow that required navigating numerous pages. So, plainly:

A licence is a signed date, not an account. When it expires the Pro features switch off and every free tool carries on exactly as before.

What stays free, permanently

Every tool on this site is free to use, one file at a time, forever — including the acceptance check, which is complete and free right down to the failures, and which is never counted at all. There is no file-size cap, no waiting period, no watermark and no queue, and there will not be. Those are the limits other sites impose because they are paying to receive and process your file. We are not, so we have nothing to ration — a 400 MB scan costs this site exactly what a 400 KB one costs it.

The one limit is running more than one file through a tool in the same job — that is Pro, and it is a price rather than a constraint: a batch is worth paying for if you run them often, and it is the only part of this worth asking money for. Nothing about a single job is kept between visits, so there is nothing to store and nothing to send anywhere. An earlier version of this page promised no counter of any kind, ever, then this one explained a monthly counter that replaced it. That counter, on a single file, is gone now — this is closer to the original promise than either version before it, and if it changes again this paragraph changes first and says so.

The word “today” in that sentence is doing real work. Some things built from now on will be Pro-only. What will not happen is a tool you already use quietly growing a limit it did not have. Nothing on this list gets taken away, metered, watermarked or counted — the tools you have are the tools you keep. If that ever changes, this paragraph changes first and says so.

Being straight about it: the free tools are not crippled to make Pro look better, which means Pro has to be worth it on its own. If none of it is worth money to you, don’t buy it — the tools do not change either way. Whatever you have saved is listed, exportable and erasable on your settings page, and none of it has ever left your device.

Why there is no account

Every tool here runs inside your browser, and the site is served with a policy that stops any page sending your files anywhere. A subscription that worked the usual way — sign in, and the server decides what you are allowed to do — would mean building the one thing this site exists to avoid.

So the licence is a short signed statement: Pro, until this date. It is signed with a private key we hold, and your browser checks it against the matching public key, which is printed below and shipped in the page. Verifying a signature proves the statement came from us. It cannot be used to forge one.

The consequence is that Pro keeps working with no network at all. Nothing phones home when you open a tool, because there is nothing to ask.

What we are honest about

A licence that can be checked offline can also be copied and passed around. We could prevent that with accounts and a check on every use, and we are choosing not to. Putting your key on your own laptop and your own phone is the point of not having an account, and nothing here counts devices.

The case that is worth defending against is different in kind: one key pasted somewhere public, where it costs one person $39 and then works for everybody until it expires. So every key carries a random twelve-character reference, and a key that turns up in public can be switched off by that reference alone — on its own, without touching anybody else’s.

The list of withdrawn references is shipped inside the page, not fetched, so the check is still what it was: no network call, and Pro still works with the network off. The list is empty today. Nothing has leaked.

The key itself still says nothing about you. Open it and you will find a plan name, two dates and that reference — no email address, no customer number, no device identifier. The reference is a random number, not derived from your payment and not written down beside it, so it cannot be traced back to a person by us or by anyone else. It is not a login and cannot be used to recognise you.
